Learning from Flower Demo

Does offline marketing works?

Attending to find out!

Today, I was walking around Jurong East and I lady approached me and gave me a flyer. I read the content of the Flyer and it somewhat related to what we were doing; preserved flowers.

So I was thinking, this is interesting, I should attend and see if her marketing effort were effective, hence i sign up for the course as it was a free demo.

And yes. I really attended the class

Experience I had in the demo

It was a Sunday, and I was the only one there. No one else. So I was curious and started chatting with her about her business. Later I found out that she just started her business. Hence, maybe its normal to have such a small number of responds to her flyers advertisement. However, her demo class were really resourceful and she is willing to answer any question that I have on preserved flowers.

Learning point: Do I think offline marketing with flyers works?

From this experience I cannot really tell if it really work as she mentioned she is a new start up to. So I am thinking maybe distributing flyers may gain some customers but for a new start up, maybe its not the worth the time to do it.

From the behavior of most human being, I have seen them taking the flyers and thrown them into the rubbish bin when they found one. Hence I feel that it is a waste of paper and money to print it out.

Since everyone is always on their phones. It would be more sound to advertise online rather than offline distributing flyers for a new start up.

If I were to go for a offline marketing approach I would rather plan an action that have an interaction with the customer, so that they have an experience with us rather than just printing paper and taking them with no memories of the content days later.
