BP7: A Friendly Reminder to self to be Patient...

19th June 2019

The wait for goods is really very excruciating.

I'm not even exaggerating: Goods that arwe shipped directly from China using Registered mail would take about 3 weeks (2 weeks if lucky), to reach Singapore.

This has become quite a concern for our group, which is the reason why we attempted to go to Malaysia to expand our sources (although that didn't go very well)

To try and quicken this process, It is very tempting to at one-shot, order many products that look like they are what we are looking for, hoping that what we saw on screen would be exactly what we would get.

Fortunately our group has not been hasty thus far.

Expectation: I thought we were buying leaves that would be a good fit to our dried flower products.

I was looking for more decorative pieces that my group could use to create our dried flower decorative pieces.

One of the decorative items which I thought would fit our products well were stalks of leaves. After all, flowers usually grows on bushes, so I thought some leaves would go well. Of course, the stalk of the decorative leaves must be strong enough to withstand being suspended within the jar. I thought getting some real dried leaves would be a nice extra touch for our flower designed pots.

Reality: Things don't always go the way they should!

Instead of the more sturdy types of decoration, I got these from a Chinese supplier.

The leaves were very filmy and would bend far too easily. If used in our flower pots suspended, they were too easy to tear and thus could not be used.

As I looked more carefully at the item description, it was only then Which I realized the seller had "covered" himself by writing somewhere at the bottom that these were dried pressed leaves (which was the reason why these were flat).

Fortunately this was a cheap lesson - It didn't cost us much (less than $10), but it was a little reminder to us to 1) Read the item description very carefully when buying items (especially from unknown sources with unbelievably competitive prices) and 2) Not throw all our eggs in one basket (or supplier) when buying our supplies in this business.
