3. Arrival of Samples

Good News: Earlier Than Expected

Some of the sample glassware we ordered from Lazada and Aliexpress have arrived slightly earlier than expected, with the average time for delivery to be about 1-2 weeks. This is good news, as it was stated that shipping from China to Singapore would take 18 to 38 days. We were previously worried about having to push back sales due to the long delivery time, but that will not be a problem anymore.

Now, we will focus on developing the products using these glassware and the flowers Sindy brought back from Thailand. Due to the nature of our business as selling decorations, our products have to be creative and diverse in terms of raw materials, such as using glass jars of different sizes, pebbles and flowers of different colour and the possible addition of aroma. This means trying out a ton of permutations (and discarding most of them in the end), which will likely take up a bulk of our time in June.

This is the next hurdle for us, as 1. none of us have extensive experience in building this kind of DIY products, 2. we do not know what the general public wants. Fortunately, the girls in our group are interested in this type of handiwork and are already starting to try to build some prototypes. For our next meet up, we will gather all the testing materials bought and try to come up with the actual finalised designs and build them. As for the second point, we were thinking of doing a survey to gather more information about customer preferences. After coming up with different prototypes, we can show people and ask which one they prefer.

Then of course, there is the problem with marketing and pricing. But I think we should get our products right first.

Hope we can get to start selling in July, the cost of goods is quite painful.
