5. Malaysia
From my last post, I mentioned about a one day trip to Malaysia to source for raw materials. Due to all the commitments each of us have, we ended up going on a Saturday, 15th Jun 19, and boy was it a mistake.
If I were to list the most crowded places I've been to in my life, the Woodlands Checkpoint on Saturdays easily comes out on top. Queues don't exist here; there is no space to line up properly. Heck, at times there isn't even space to stand straight. What was supposed to be a happy little trip quickly turned into a test of patience and endurance, as we spent the whole morning and half of noon stuck in the crowd before finally passing the border at 3 p.m.
"On that day, mankind received a grim reminder. We lived in fear and were forced to live in these cages we called immigration borders."
Staying positive but actually dead inside (and outside - our legs)
Okay enough ranting. Now on to the material sourcing.
The place we went was KSL City Mall, a shopping mall with lots of accessories and utilities stores, and we could find everything we need here. From there we bought various items including glass jars, decorative sand, glue gun, artificial grass, and many more. While the other materials were easy enough to find, we took quite long to search for a glassware of high quality.
After all, this was the crux of the problem we had till now - the glassware shipped from China have all been of low quality. As such, we had to find glass that is not only clear, but also dense enough to feel like actual good glass. In the end, we managed to find one shop with decent quality, higher than others at the same price point.
It felt really good that we came back with our bags full. At least the trip wasn't wasted, and the arduous journey crossing the border was worth it.
Next up, we will meet again to decide what to do with all these stuff. Stay tuned.

Back to Singapore late night. Genuine smiles this time :)
