15. Timezone
I am currently in US, 13 hours behind Singapore.
This is a small post on how the timezone posed a bigger problem than expected.
Honestly, I did not expect communications to actually be a problem before coming here. It seems that the different time zone really messes things up, especially when the group usually discusses things in the day, where I would be asleep. When I am awake, there will be hundreds of messages and it is hard to look through them all. It is even harder to reply to them as sometimes they have thought it through and made the decision. In addition, we could not hold a conversation since they will be asleep when I talk anyway. While there are no major issues currently, the chat discontinuities due to the timezone difference posed a challenge and is more frustrating than I thought.
Currently, the only thing I am helping out would be the Instagram posts, as this is quite independent and does not require much communication. We still stuck to the regular posting of our products with fancy descriptions. Other than that, there will be some announcement posts for our DIY products coming up. I will be discussing about it in the next post.
Edit: So we made an arrangement to have Skype meetings in the evening, which is morning for me. By the time I wrote this we have already made a few calls, and I have to say speaking over the phone is much more efficient than over messaging. Over these weeks we discussed quite a bit on the DIY stuff, such as pricing, video taking, and social media promoting. Glad it all worked out.
